Barrow have announced that one of their close-season recruits from Papua New Guinea is to return home.
Second rower Willie Minoga recently underwent a scan on a knee injury that revealed he’ll be unable to play again this season.
The player and club have since come to an agreement for Minoga to be released from his contract.
In a statement, the club said: “Barrow Raiders are sad to announce that Willie Minoga will be departing for PNG next week.
“Willie has had a scan on his injured knee and he will be unable to play again this season.
“His season has been dogged by injury, but he has been a massive presence around the club and, along with his fellow PNG stars, has put the Raiders on the map with his community and schools work.
“Willie will be at the game against Leigh to say goodbye to his fans and everyone at the club wishes him well. He is a fantastic guy.”
