Indigenous All Stars head coach Laurie Daley is enforcing a ‘no alcohol’ rule as part of the team’s training camp ahead of their match against the Maori All Stars.
Daley hopes the move will minimise the risk of off-field issues, following an eventful close-season down under that has seen several stars disciplined for booze-fuelled misdemeanours.
“What’s happened is these camps when they come in we don’t allow the guys to have a beer,” Daley told NRL.com.
“They are big days both on a cultural front and football. We basically don’t give them the opportunity to do anything wrong.
“They understand their responsibility and they understand what’s right and wrong.”
