Wakefield Trinity boss Chris Chester was left praising the efforts of star forward David Fifita again last night and hinted that getting his signature on a deal to stay at Trinity was not far away.
Fifita has been one of the form props in the competition in 2019 and turned in another huge 80 minute display to help his side earn a 30-20 win over Wigan, taking Chester’s men to third in the table approaching Easter.
With speculation earlier this season linking the 29 year old to a possible move away from the Mobile Rocket Stadium, Chester was extremely confident of getting a deal over the line in the coming days.
“The fighting spirit we showed tonight was unbelievable. For David Fifita to do 80 minutes is an unbelievable effort,” he said.
“David doesn’t want to leave. I’m quietly confident by next week we’ll have a signature on paper.
“He’s a key player for us and I’m confident he’ll be here for the long term.”
