North Queensland Cowboys coach Paul Green pulled no punches after his side’s controversial golden point loss to Wests Tigers, demanding an explanation for his players as to why two crucial calls went against them.
The Tigers were awarded two questionable tries by the officials during the game which were ultimately very costly for the Cowboys, with Green coming out firing to question the consistency and level of officiating in the game.
“What my players deserve to know is why on their second try they don’t go to the bunker. Wests Tigers knock on in the air and they don’t go to the bunker,” he said.
“They go to the bunker for everything else. They deserve an explanation.
“It’s not my job to worry about consequences (for refs). They keep wanting a better product, as I said it’s not my job to worry about consequences, but the players deserve an explanation as to why they didn’t go to the bunker on that second try.”
