Lions the pinnacle for Burgess

South Sydney and England forward George Burgess says following in the footsteps of older brother Sam in playing for Great Britain would be a dream come true.

The Lions tour was officially announced on Monday, ending a 12 year absence for Great Britain in rugby league, and Burgess couldn’t wait to try and earn a place in the tour of the Southern Hemisphere at the end of the year.

“I grew up watching the Lions and it was a proud moment for our family when Sam debuted in 2007,” he said.

“To pull that jersey on would definitely be a pinnacle of my career, it’s something I’ve dreamt about as a kid.”
