League 1 side Newcastle Thunder have pulled off another big signing with the capture of a Samoan international outside back from Australia.
Former Manly Sea Eagles man Matthew Wright has agreed to join Thunder until the end of the 2019 season and comes to add a wealth of experience and quality in the club’s push for promotion to the Championship.
The 28 year old has played over 100 NRL games in spells with Cronulla Sharks, North Queensland Cowboys and most recently the Sea Eagles but has spent this season in the Intrust Super Cup with Central Queensland Capras.
“Matthew is going to add strike and competition to our outside backs. He is an experienced player who will fit in very well into our group,” Newcastle coach Simon Finnigan said of the signing.
