NZ captain signs with new club following abrupt Panthers exit

After his sudden departure from Penrith Panthers in the NRL, New Zealand captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has wasted no time on securing a deal at a new club.

Rumours had been rife suggesting the 23 year old was set to join Wests Tigers, where his older brother Malaki played in 2018 and where his national coach Michael Maguire is in charge, but instead the talented outside back has signed for Canterbury Bulldogs to add some more quality to their squad on an 18 month deal.

“Not only is Dallin a great player but he is a quality person and a leader. As the current Kiwi captain he provides us with both class and proven ability and he will be a major addition to our back line,” Canterbury’s CEO Andrew Hill said on his capture.
