Hull KR outside back Junior Vaivai has provided a detailed explanation of his battle with depression before joining the club.
As part of mental health awareness week, the 29 year old, who is on his second year at Rovers after signing mid way through last season, revealed a letter he wrote to himself when going through mental struggles early in his career, which was published in a video on the club’s twitter.
His deal in Super League was his first professional contract since leaving Penrith having not played at the top level in 2011 due to a series of serious injuries that had him admittedly resenting the sport all together and facing a tough physical and mental battle.
"For six months straight I did not leave the house… but I decided that I was going to get up, dust myself off and open the blinds."
