Reports – Former FC star to be released by NRL club following serious injury

One of Hull FC’s former star outside backs will be looking for another club next season, with injury ruling him out for the 2019, according to reports.

Mahe Fonua was a firm favourite in west Hull during his two seasons in black and white in 2016/2017, winning the Challenge Cup in both years before earning a deal back in the NRL.

However, despite showcasing good form for current club Wests Tigers this term, a foot injury requiring surgery has ensured that the outside back won’t play again this season meaning he will be looking for a new club next year, with no contract extension thought to be in the pipeline at the Tigers.

This could set off a flurry of interest for the Tongan international’s signature on both sides of the world after he took Super League by storm during his time in England.
