RFL offers clarity on Toronto TV turmoil

The RFL has issued a statement following news this afternoon that Sky has withdrawn coverage of two upcoming Toronto home matches.

It was announced ahead of the current season that the broadcaster would show every Wolfpack home game in 2019.

But several fixtures have already fallen by the wayside and today’s news that upcoming games against Leigh and York will also not be shown has prompted the governing body to issue a statement.

It reads: “Toronto Wolfpack’s Championship homes games against York City Knights on Saturday 10 August and Leigh Centurions on Saturday 7 September will not be shown on Sky Sports as planned.

“Telegenic and In Touch productions, who have produced the Wolfpack’s matches this season on behalf of international broadcasters such as Sky Sports, have been stood down.

“The RFL understands that this is a decision made by the club rather than the broadcaster.”
