The head coach of Wakefield Ladies has stepped down from the role.
Wayne Hirst has vacated the position after 18 months, following the weekend’s 100-0 defeat to Castleford in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
Hirst led the team to the Championship League Leaders last year, earning promotion to Super League.
But the team has struggled to find momentum at the top level in 2019.
Hirst said: “We have had some great times with the ladies team and have seen them develop well over the last 18 months.
“There is plenty of talent in the team to compete in Super League, but I feel that now is the right time for someone else to take the team forward, and I am looking forward to spending more time with my family.
“I would also like to personally thank James Stephenson and Sian Turnbull so much for everything that they have done for me, and the team while I’ve been there, for being good friends.”
