Danny Ward said he was looking forward to returning to the city where he made his name as a player with the opportunity to come up against an old friend, as his London side prepare to take on Leeds Rhinos.
Ward led the Broncos to Super League promotion in 2018 and will oversee his side’s clash at Emerald Headingley Stadium, a place he called home for seven years, looking to get one over on Rhinos boss Dave Furner, who played alongside Ward at Leeds.
Leeds come into the clash desperate for a win, with London looking to secure their third victory of the season. Despite the Rhinos woes so far in 2019, Ward backed Furner to get things right in his new role.
“It’s always nice going back to your old club and catching up with old friends,” he said.
“I played alongside Dave Furner back in 03 and 04. He was a fantastic player, the ultimate competitor and I am sure he’ll do a great job with Leeds.”
