Warriors issue statement on Tautai conviction

Following Taulima Tautai’s conviction for drink-driving earlier today, Wigan Warriors have issued a statement regarding the prop forward.

Tautai was dropped from the Warriors squad for this week’s clash with Leeds and was earlier banned from driving for 18 months and fined £1,200 for being almost twice over the legal limit when breathalysed in the early hours of Sunday 26th May and now faces an uncertain future at the club.

“Firstly, I’d like to make clear that we are extremely disappointed with Taulima’s actions in the early hours of Sunday the 26th May. Drink driving is completely unacceptable and now that matter has been dealt with by the courts Taulima now faces the consequences of his actions,” said Wigan’s Executive Director Kris Radlinski.

“We will now go through an internal disciplinary process with him (Tautai), and until that has run its course we will not be making any further comment.”
