The RFL have announced that the final of this year’s 1895 Cup will be held ahead of the Challenge Cup Final as part of a Wembley double-header.
Last year’s final was also staged at the national stadium, but logistical challenges meant the game had to be played after the ‘main event’.
But the order has been switched for 2020 and RFL chief commercial officer Mark Foster says that the views of supporters were taken into account in making the decision.
He said said: “We’ve listened to the views of clubs and supporters in working to change the kick-off time of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup.
“We’re grateful for the co-operation of Wembley Stadium in allowing us to bring the kick-off forward, and we hope that change will be welcomed – and ensure a suitable atmosphere in the stadium when the winners receive their trophy.”
The 1895 Cup Final will now kick-off at midday, ahead of the Challenge Cup Final at 3.00pm, and following the Year 7 Boys Schools Final.
