“A new path has started,” says Burrell after Wire debut

Warrington Wolves new signing Luther Burrell was delighted to make his professional rugby league debut over the weekend and was looking forward to the challenge of becoming a regular starter.

Burrell came off the bench against London Broncos for his first top level rugby league after as ten year professional career in rugby union, in which he played for England.

It has taken the 31 year old less than a month to earn his first appearance for Steve Price and he was looking to build on the run out

“That was the one reason I wanted to do it. I’m an athlete and a sportsman first and foremost, and I want to keep pushing myself and not get complacent,” he said.

“I’ve achieved some great things but this is a huge challenge for me and I’m still on my journey. It feels like a new path has started now.

“I didn’t really have any sort of goal in mind about how quickly I wanted to play. You can do as much conditioning as you want, but you can’t replicate match fitness and the physical side of it.”
