Leeds boss Richard Agar believes Alex Sutcliffe could have a big future in the game, following an impressive display on Boxing Day.
Sutfliffe caught the eye during the closing stages of 2019 during a loan spell with Featherstone, and Agar is backing the centre or second row to challenge for a spot at Headingley this term.
He said: “We’re a team and we want to be a team all year and it’s the younger, less experienced players who are going to be the key to our future.
“We think we have a tremendous crop of young kids, and Alex in particular went to Featherstone last year and built his confidence up enormously.
“He was one of the stand-out centres, if not players, in the Championship and his try-scoring record was outstanding.
“When we had the players go down in the days ahead of Boxing Day, we threw him in.
“He’s trained all year at centre, and we put him in the back row, but he’s a strong, tough kid and he knows how to run a line and score a try.
“We think he’ll be a real valuable player for us.”
