A former Wigan star now playing in the NRL admitted to losing his cool with the referee in the wake of another contentious call against his club.

New Zealand Warriors half Blake Green’s frustrations finally boiled over with referee Ben Cummins after the bunker controversially ruled teammate Adam Blair had fouled a player chasing a kick in the in-goal and was sin binned late on in the Warriors upset win over in form Manly.

The Auckland side led 18-0 at the time, but saw their lead cut to just two points in the dying staged whilst the back rower was in the bin, before eventually securing a 24-16 victory, and Green admitted he’d let his frustration get the better of him at the time.

“I was really disappointed. I probably said a few things I shouldn’t have said to the referee,” he said.
