Sheffield Eagles boss Mark Aston praised the impact of veteran outside back Menzie Yere after the centre returned to the fold recently.
Yere has endured a tumultuous year, with visa issues delaying his return to action before he was sent out on loan at League 1 side Doncaster but has made his mark in Aston’s best 17 in recent weeks.
Although cup tied and unable to play in the Eagles’ 1895 Cup final against Widnes in two weeks time, Aston highlighted the value of having the Papua New Guinean around the playing squad ahead of such an important clash.
“As an elder statesman, he inspires the others,” he said.
“He can’t play at Wembley as he is cup tied which is a shame because I would have loved that.
“He will though play a part. The fairy tale is now he’ll be massive part around the squad.
“He’ll be with us, and I’ll need the leadership skills which he offers by his actions.”
