Sheffield Eagles fans favourite Menzie Yere has agreed to a one year contract extension with the club.
The Papua New Guinea international first joined the Championship club in 2009 and is now revered as a true legend of the club.
Upon re-signing the powerful centre, Eagles director of rugby Mark Aston delighted that Yere to keep a player he has described as one of the best ever imports in the club’s history.
“He’s a legend, a champion, and when he played some of the games last year he could still handle it,” he told the club website.
“The big thing for me is that he deserves to be honoured and granted a testimonial.
“He wants to be a one-club man. I’m sure there are plenty of clubs who have looked at him but he wanted to stay at Sheffield and finish his career with us.
“We’re delighted with that as he has been one of, if not the best overseas players Sheffield Eagles have ever had.”
