Great Britain second row forward John Bateman has been cleared to face Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
The Canberra Raiders star was placed on report during last Saturday’s second Test defeat at the hands of New Zealand for a high tackle on Ken Maumalo.
Bateman pleaded guilty to a careless high tackle and the Match Review Panel for the series, chaired by Stevan Cole and including Braith Anasta and Michael Hodgson, ruled that the incident was a grade one offence .
This led to the imposition of 50 demerit points which could lead to future suspensions applying to international matches only, but no suspension.
The Great Britain squad are currently in Australia and will fly into Port Moresby on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s Test at the Oil Search Stadium.
