Great Britain and England international John Bateman has been nominated for the International Rugby League’s Golden Boot award.
The Canberra Raiders second row forward is the only British representative on the shortlist and he hopes to be the second Englishman in succession to win the award following Tommy Makinson last season.
The award goes to the player judged by a media panel to have been the star performer in full international games in 2019. The winner will be announced once the final scheduled games for the year are complete.
Salford Red Devils half-back Tui Lolohea, who was dumped by Leeds during his first season, is one of the frontrunners for the accolade following sterling performances for Tonga against Great Britain and Australia.
He’s joined on the shortlist by fellow Tongan Sio Siua Taukeiaho, New Zealand pair Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves along with Australians Damian Cook and Payne Haas.
St Helens centre Kevin Naiqama, has also been nominated alongside fellow Fiji representatives Viliame Kikau and Brandon Wakeman.
