Bennett names GB line up for Tonga Test

Ahead of Saturday’s opening Test against Tonga in Hamilton, Wayne Bennett has named his 17 man squad to kick off the tour.

St Helens’ Lachlan Coote makes his Great Britain debut at fullback with Wigan duo Oliver Gildart and Zak Hardaker making up the centre combination inside the experienced pair of Ryan Hall and Jermaine McGillvary.

Warrington bound Gareth Widdop partners reigning Man of Steel Jackson Hastings in the halves, with Saints Jonny Lomax occupying the utility spot on the bench.

Salford’s Josh Jones will make his Test debut off the bench, with Canberra trio Josh Hodgson, John Bateman and Elliott Whitehead all in the starting forward pack; newly appointed captain James Graham starts at loose forward.

Tonga’s invitation side is also brimming with talent. Salford stand off Tui Lolohea starts in the halves with Ata Hingano, with Warrington’s Ben Murdoch-Masila lining up alongside new Hull signing Manu Ma’u in the back row.
