After recent rumours linking them with a move for axed Australian rugby union star Israel Folau, Brisbane Broncos have made a statement to clarify matters.

Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia earlier this year for comments made about homosexuals on his social media, and recently reached a settlement in court with the sport’s governing body over his dismissal.

However, with rumours since suggesting he may be set to return to the 13 man game with Brisbane, the club have confirmed this is not the case.

The statement reads:

“Contrary to media speculation, the Broncos have not been part of discussions of any kind with the player.

“The club’s roster is settled for the 2020 season.

“We wish Israel well in the future.”

The Broncos recently completed the acquisition of young half back Brodie Croft from Mebourne Storm.
