New Wigan signing Mitch Clark says he’s desperate to return to playing action but admits that competition for places in the forward pack is fierce.

Clark arrives at the Warriors from Castleford, after having spent the closing stages of 2019 on loan with Leigh.

He said: “There is a good mix of middles here at the club. There’s some experience and there’s some great young forwards who’ll bring a lot of enthusiasm.

“It’s going to be exciting to see who’s putting their hand up for selection in that first game of the season.

“Everyone is working their backside off out on the pitch and wanting to do their best in training.”

The Warriors start their Super League campaign with a home match against Warrington on Thursday 30 January.

Clark added: “I can’t wait to get back out there, it seems like it’s been forever.

“The training we’re doing now, including the 13 against 13, has helped us get a real good feel for what we’re going to be coming up against.”
