Warrington Wolves back rower Ben Currie admitted that the feeling he got from lifting the Challenge Cup last Saturday made the previous two years of injury hell all worthwhile.

The 25 year old endured a difficult 24 months, returning earlier this season from back to back ACL injuries that limited him to just a handful of games over the course of the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

However, he was on hand to help the Wolves lift the historic trophy at Wembley last weekend and was delighted to put those troubles behind him.

“You spend plenty of dark days stuck in the gym on your own or in rehab,” he told Warrington Guardian.

“Sometimes you feel like you don’t want to do the work, or you want to cut corners.

“But when you think about days like this, you want to be back out on that field – it gets you through those moments.

“Days like this definitely make it all worth it. It’s such a good feeling.”
