Leeds Rhinos Women’s head coach Adam Cuthbertson heaped praise not only on his own side but women’s rugby league in general after his side claimed a 20-12 win over Castleford to with the Super League title.
Leeds came back from 8-0 down to claim the league and cup double and Cuthbertson was left hailing the quality and growing appeal of the women’s game.
With the game being shown on Sky Sports for the first time, the Australian forward is confident the game has the potential to grow even more and become a huge product in the near future.
“It was a big occasion today. Being aired on Sky Sports for the first time was something the team deserved,” he told reporters.
“We’ve got a great product with the women’s game and to see the game get the display is deserved was terrific. It was a great performance from both teams and we just edged it in the end and got a great win.
“We’ve got to keep marketing it right and keep creating a great brand for the Women’s Super League then i’m just more sponsors will jump on board and we’ll start getting more opportunities to play on a stage like this.
“It’s about building momentum and putting the right foundations in place and there is plenty of room for the game to continue to grow.”
