Jake Shorrocks believes he is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing week in week out in Adrian Lam’s side and is hopeful of avoiding time in the reserves, having gained some significant Super League experience. He told Wigan Today’s Phil Wilkinson: “I’m 24 now, I need to be playing week in, week out, ideally starting at halfback or coming off the bench as an impact player. I’m definitely too old to be playing reserves – and I feel I’m too good to be playing reserves, too.”

Lee Radford admits he is delighted to see Jake Connor return to pre-season training ahead of schedule to get a head start on his rehab. The Great Britain international has been in two days a week already, despite being off until Christmas week. “His voice is here, it’s still ringing in everybody’s ears. He’s come in to do some rehab and to keep ticking over, which is great. I’m pleased he is. He’s been away and had a little bit of sun so he’s not going away on holiday so to have him here in the environment is a good thing,” Radford told Hull Daily Mail’s William Jackson.

Richard Agar confirmed in an interview with Yorkshire Evening Post’s Dave Craven that Leeds are still trying to get a couple more signings over the line before the start of the 2020 season, following the departure of Trent Merrin and the capture of Matt Prior. “We think we still have significant space on the cap and we have got a little bit of room on our quota so we’ll have a look at what’s happening and see if we can get the right person but also find value for money, too. We’re not in any immediate rush but at the same time we are actively looking,” he said.
