Hull KR boss Tony Smith has urged his players not to read too much into the squad numbers that were announced earlier this week. He told Hull Daily Mail’s William Jackson: “We’ve got to allocate squad numbers so we do but where they end up will be determined by their pre-season and friendly performances. We’ve got plenty of numbers and competition for places. They can read into it as much as they want but they can affect it by what they do on the park and the training park.”
Reports in Treize Mondial say that Catalans Dragons are on the hunt for a replacement for centre Brayden Wiliame after the centre left the club to return to the NRL earlier this week. Dragons boss Steve McNamara was quoted saying: “We will now start looking for a player to replace him, and we will prospect in France, England and the southern hemisphere to find the right one.”
