Andre Savelio admits that his confidence has taken a real hit after persistent injuries hindered his progress over the last couple of season. He told Hull Daily Mail’s William Jackson: “It’s been a long two years. Hopefully I get a bit more (luck) this time around. “It probably has affected my confidence a bit. I probably carry the ball a bit differently than I used to but I think that will come back. In that first game at Halifax I was real iffy about the way I carried the ball and the way I got tackled, but against London I was a bit more free-minded and confident.”
Lachlan Coote has reaffirmed his commitment to Scotland whilst admitting he was disappointed with his own performance whilst on duty for Great Britain in their recent tour. “The tour didn’t go as we planned. Personally I was bit disappointed how it all went but that’s rugby league, that’s what happens. I would love to play for Scotland again. We’ve got the 2021 World Cup coming up and it would be great to get a few more boys on board,” he said to The St Helens Reporter’s Ian Laybourn.
Jake Connor admits he is looking to form a deadly partnership with new backrower Manu Ma’u after the two played together for the first time in Hull’s pre-season win over Batly. Connor said to William Jackson of Hull Daily Mail: “He’s good to play with. He runs a hard line which is what you want as a half, especially the way I play, I like to play into the line and draw the man in. I think he’s going to be good for us this season.”
Wigan star Jake Bibby admits that his first run out for his new club was special, despite not coming away with the result against Leeds in Liam Farrell’s testimonial. The centre got on the score sheet off a Jackson Hastings pass and is looking forward to continuing a strong partnership. “It was a special occasion because all of my family were also down as well. I didn’t really expect to score, so I was buzzing. Me and Jacko (Jackson Hastings) have played well in the last 18 months that we’ve been together, so we know each other really well,” he told the club website.
