Liam Farrell is confident new signing George Burgess will give Wigan an extra edge for the 2020 season. The former South Sydney prop touched down at his new club this week, with Farrell tipping him to shine. He told Wigan Today’s Phil Wilkinson: “We’ve got a lot of good, aggressive players at the moment but he’ll add that edge to us where we can get a quicker ruck and get some momentum about us. I think he’ll be a big presence for us.”

League Express’ Matt Shaw is reporting that former Hull KR and Wakefield prop Mitch Allgood is keen on a return to Super League. The front rower is struggling for game time in the NRL and has expressed interest in coming back to the UK. Shaw writes: “TotalRL understands the 30-year-old is keen to return to England and has attracted interest from several clubs.”

Mitch Clark says he is ready to add some real spark to Wigan’s pack after commencing pre-season training. The Kiwi forward signed from Castleford and is looking forward to ripping in in a red and white shirt. He told Wigan Today’s Phil Wilkinson: “I want to bring loads of energy and enthusiasm. I’ll put my body on the line for the team, take the hits for the team, do what I can. I’m really excited to be here, and I just want to rip into pre-season.”

Lee Radford admits he has been impressed with new signing Jordan Johnstone to start the pre-season and expects the former Widnes man to challenge club captain Danny Houghton for a spot next year. He told Hull Daily Mail’s William Jackson: “I’d hope he can challenge Danny Houghton straight away. There’s no gimme in terms of selection. The good thing about this pre-season is there’s so much competition for places, you’re hoping nobody lets their guard down and gives their position away easily.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall says he cannot wait to get started at Hull KR, with his arrival date in the UK set for this weekend. The former Newcastle and Kiwi winger is one of the headline signings at Rovers and is excited to get started. “I’m Heading over next week so not long to go now. I’m Looking forward to getting over there and getting stuck in with the boys,” he told Hull Daily Mail’s James O’Brien.
