Chris Chester believes the club’s off season recruitment will provide significantly better quality and depth to his squad as they look to have a much more successful 2020 campaign. He told The Yorkshire Post’s Ben McKenna: “The players that we brought in are not just going to add some quality but some real good depth to the squad as well,” said Chester. We will be in a much better spot, that if we do get a crisis like last year, where 10 or 11 players are missing for 10 to 11 weeks.”

Fox Sports’ James Hooper is reporting that a deal has been agreed for a three way player transfer between Leeds skipper Trent Merrin, Cronulla’s Matt Prior and Luciano Leilua at St George. Hooper writes: “Two-time grand final winning front rower Matt Prior has agreed to a three-year contract with Leeds in the Super League, paving the way for Trent Merrin to return to St George Illawarra and Luciano Leilua to join the Wests Tigers.”

Karl Fitzpatrick has addressed Warrington’s media and marketing team to set targets of competing with global sports brands, not just brands within rugby league. During the off field team’s meeting near Old Trafford, Fitzpatrick told the Mirror’s Gareth Walker: “We don’t measure ourselves against other Super League clubs. We measure ourselves against the biggest sporting brands in the world. “Obviously Manchester United are on a different level to most, but we want to get to a position where we are a leading sports brand.”
