Kieran Foran’s return to the Test arena lasted only five minutes after he was led from the field with a serious looking injury.

The 29-year-old half-back, who last represented the Kiwis in the Anzac Test in May 2017, was handed a lifeline by coach Michael Maguire after being named in their starting line-up against Great Britain ahead of Shaun Johnson.

Foran was looking forward to his return and was hoping to kick-start his career on the international stage, but what looked like a routine tackle on James Graham saw his game come to an end.

Medical staff tended to him as television replays suggested he had suffered a dislocated shoulder and he left the field.
