A former Widnes and Catalans player has been appointed head coach of French side Toulon XIII.

Justin Murphy, who represented France at international level after qualifying on residency grounds, will lead the French second division club into the next season.

The Australian winger made a name for himself in the NRL with New Zealand Warriors.

He made a handful of appearances for the Vikings before making the switch to Perpignan, when he appeared in a Challenge Cup Final with the Dragons.
