Former Leeds boss has agreed a deal to return to coaching in the NRL, according to reports in Australia.

Furner has been out of work since being dismissed by the Rhinos earlier this season, but it is understood he will link up with new Newcastle coach Adam O’Brien

Fox Sports’ James Hooper reports: “The Newcastle Knights have signed experienced former Canberra Raiders coach David Furner as an assistant to Adam O’Brien for the next three seasons.

“Furner, who was an assistant to ex-Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens, brings a wealth of experience to the Knights who are under siege after an awful fade out in 2019.”
