Wigan centre Oliver Gildart has admitted he hopes former teammate Sam Tomkins and other former Warriors stars get a warm reception as they take on their former club in Catalans colours tonight.
England international Tomkins will line up alongside Michael McIlorum and Lewis Tierney for the Dragons in a trio of players to previously play for the Cherry and Whites as the French side head to the DW Stadium.
Having played with all three of them during in their Wigan days, Gildart had nothing but praise for Tomkins in particular and was confident the Warriors supporters would greet all three with similar respect.
“Sam is one of the best I’ve watched and played alongside, and someone I learned a lot off,” he said in an interview with Wigan Today.
Former Wigan Head of Youth Matty Peet added: “They are seen as role models for our players and what they achieved at the club.
“They are three players who know exactly what we’re about.”
