Gold Coast Titans coach Justin Holbrook says he fully expects star forward Jai Arrow to play out the last year of his deal with the club in 2020 despite confirming he will leave next year.
The Queensland forward has penned a long term deal with South Sydney from 2021, with speculation linking him with an early exit from the Titans.
However, Holbrook is confident he will be part of his squad in 2020 and sees him as a big part of his plans.
“I am (confident),” he told the club website.
“Jai had a big decision to make about his future but he’s made it now and he’s fully committed to playing out his contract for 2020 here and that’s how we’ll see it out.
“He’s a really good guy Jai and obviously a very good player, I see him being a big part of our season this year.”
Although being admittedly disappointed to not be able to keep the talented loose forward, but insists he is only focusing on the season ahead and not what might happen in terms of recruitment next year.
“He’s vital for this season. Every club is going through player movements already for 2021, but it’s about this year and I know he’ll be performing his best for us and that’s all I’m worried about,” he added.
“He’s one of many at the club who we wanted to stay so I’m disappointed he’s not staying but we’ve got to move on and get on and he’s part of this season and then we’ll worry about 2021.”
