Holbrook reflects on last-gasp win

Saints boss Justin Holbrook hailed the performance of opponents Salford, while praising his own players for their ability to remain calm and “keep going”.

The league leaders snatched victory after having thrown away a healthy lead early in the contest.

He told reporters after the match: “You ask for an entertaining game and we got that, didn’t we?

“When you get off to a good start you feel it will continue, but Salford did something about that and did really well.”

“But the game swung back and we managed to get there.

“I’m not sure what won it for us in the end, but I’m just obviously really happy to come away with the win.

“Salford played fantastic, earned their lead and played good rugby, but our boys never gave up.

“We did lots of things wrong but we just kept going, and we asked them to stay calm and they managed to do that.

“This year we were able to come back and last year I’m not sure we would have done.”
