Following his release from NFL side New York Jets, Valentine Holmes will return to the NRL in 2020 after penning a six year deal with North Queensland Cowboys.
Holmes walked out on the sport and Cronulla Sharks at the end of the 2018 season to try and crack the american football scene but failed to gain a spot in the top squad at the Jets and was recently released by the club.
The Cowboys, who have reportedly being keeping money back in their salary cap should the former Queensland and Kangaroos star become available, have moved quickly to sign the Townsville local until the end of the 2025 season.
“This is a wonderful signing for our club,” Cowboys Director of Football Peter Parr told the club website.
“He’s a proven big game player, he’s won a grand final and he’s played some terrific football for both Queensland and Australia.
“Valentine has been a top-class performer at wing and fullback and we’ve made no secret we had a desire to strengthen our outside back stocks.”
