One of Hull FC’s experienced stars who will leave the club at the end of the season said he was surprised and disappointed to not be offered a new deal beyond this year.

29 year old Chris Green has spent his entire Super League career with the Black and Whites to date, but was told he will not have his deal at the KCOM Stadium extended and has now gone out on loan to Wakefield for the remainder of the season.

“It was quite surprising (not getting offered a deal),” he told The Yorkshire Post.

“I didn’t hear a lot from them and as time went on it was a bit disappointing but that’s how sport goes at times.

“I feel like I’m playing the best rugby I’ve ever played at the moment and it’s not ideal how this has happened. But I have to look after myself and my family and Hull couldn’t do that.”
