Mahe Fonua believes he is an improved player from the one that had a successful first stint at Hull FC and can’t wait to get back out on the field in black and white in 2020.

Fonua won back to back Challenge Cups with Hull in 2016 and 2017 before spending the last two years in the NRL with Wests Tigers.

However, with his return to East Yorkshire for pre-season training only a week away, the 26 year old is ready to get going.

“The supporters are a huge part of the club being successful. When the KCOM is bouncing, it makes a huge difference on the field and I can’t wait to feel that again,” he told the club website.

“Certain aspects of my footy game improved during my time at West Tigers. I went back to the NRL with some more big-game experience having played in Super League semi-finals and Challenge Cup Finals, and that has helped me progress.

“I played under two great coaches in Ivan Cleary and Michael Maguire and I have learned a lot from them and I’m grateful for the knowledge they have passed onto me.”
