Hull KR will find out the extend of the injury suffered by one of their key figures in the recent win over Leeds, with coach Tony Smith hinting that he may require surgery that could end his season.

Former Leeds man Matt Parcell made a try scoring debut on his return to Headingley before damaging his shoulder late in the game and may need to go under the knife should scans reveal extensive damage.

“He has got a tear in a ligament in his shoulder,” Smith said.

“He’s going to see a surgeon tomorrow to see if it needs surgery or just rehab. It’s not great news but the extent of the problem we’re not sure of yet.

“A bit of guess work from the physio would be rehab of four weeks and if surgery it would be four months. It just depends what the surgeon feels and how it settles down in the next week or two.”
