Wakefield have announced that utility back Ben Jones-Bishop will miss the opening months of the new season after being diagnosed with an undisclosed medical condition.

Jones-Bishop has been a key player for Trinity since joining in 2016, but has been unable to train throughout the current pre-season due to the condition.

Wakefield’s head physio Ryan Carmody said: “Earlier on in pre-season, we received the news that ‘Bish’ had been diagnosed with a medical condition.

“Unfortunately, it’s stopped him taking part in any sort of training and means he’s set for a fairly lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“He’s currently under investigation with the medical team and we hope to see ‘Bish’ back in the Red, White and Blue during the summer.”

The club added: “Everyone at Wakefield Trinity wishes Ben well in his recovery and are looking forward to seeing him back out on the pitch in the summer.”
