Great Britain forward Josh Jones admits he was surprised to be named in Wayne Bennett’s squad for the opening clash of the tour against Tonga, but is ready to give it his all.

Jones was called up to the Lions squad after an outstanding season for Salford and will come off the bench in Hamilton in New Zealand against the Tongans with a feeling of real excitement to test himself at international level.

“I was absolutely delighted to be named in the squad. I wasn’t really expecting the call-up, but I’m really excited to get stuck in with the boys and pull the shirt on,” he told Hullfc.com.

“Saturday’s game will be a special moment in my career. As a kid playing rugby, you always dream of playing for Great Britain, so I’ll want to make sure I can make the most of it.”
