Makinson keen to make more history in Anfield “arena”

St Helens and England star Tommy Makinson explained that Liverpool’s iconic Anfield Stadium is more than just a ground and a place to make more fond memories as Super League head there for this week’s Dacia Magic Weekend.

The current Golden Boot holder has fond memories of Anfield, having scored an impressive hat trick for England against the New Zealand Kiwis last November and is hopeful of making more rugby league history on the home ground of this year’s Champions League finalists this weekend.

“It is an arena this, not just a sports stadium and this is where great moments happen,” he said.

“Hopefully we can come down and add another piece of history to this place.

“For me I have been lucky to play here. You have to lift your game – and it is the last one on Sunday and that is going to be great.”
