Mike McMeeken has refused to blame the Tigers’ watefulness in the first-half for their defeat to Wigan.

Jamie Ellis missed two penalty goals, while Cas were unable to turn their attacking pressure into points.

But when asked if he thought missed chances in the first half cost the team, he said: “if I don’t miss that tackle on George Williams it could have been a different story, so really you can’t say that about the points or the penalties.

“Going in at half time 4-2 behind at Wigan, it’s not a bad place to be.

“We had put ourselves in a good position but the start of the second half was just not good enough.”
