Shaun Lunt will continue his career in the Championship after agreeing terms with Batley.
The former Hull KR, Leeds, Huddersfield and Castleford hooker, who first rose through the ranks with Workington, has made more than 200 Super League appearances.
The Bulldogs say they beat off competition from several high-profile clubs to land the signature of the 30-year-old former Grand Final winner.
The club added that the signing has been made possible thanks to the backing of a sponsor.
Chief executive Paul Harrison said: “This is a massive signing for the club. To have a player with this level of experience is invaluable and we’re excited to be welcoming Shaun to The Bulldogs.”
Paul Clayton of sponsor Signature Resin Floors added: “We’ve really enjoyed our time involved with Batley Bulldogs so far and we’re happy to be able to help wherever we can.”
