New Leeds captain Stevie Ward has reflected on the players’ experiences in Spain during an emotional period for the club.
While much of the attention has been on Rob Burrow and Jamie Jones-Buchanan, and this week’s sold out pre-season fixture against Bradford, the Rhinos’ preparations for the new season have continued.
The first team squad have been in camp in Spain and Ward says he has been enthused by hearing some of the conversations being held by his team-mates.
He said: “It’s been a really good camp and the boys have worked really hard for each other.
“They’ve really tipped in for each other all week and it’s been quite an emotive week as well.
“It was interesting to hear what people were talking about, their ‘why’, and their reasons for wanting to have a big year.
“We got some really good footy done on the field too.”
