Castelford coach Daryl Powell says his side lacked execution and an effective kicking game in tonight’s defeat to St Helens.

Powell also reserved praise for tonight’s victors.

He told Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks: “We had a whole heap of the ball on their line, but they defend so well.

“Our execution wasn’t great, but I thought we’d get them if we continued to plug away, but we lacked quality and our kicking game was not good enough.

“Credit to Saints for turning up under pressure and given where they are.”

Despite tonight’s setback, Powell remains confident about his side’s prospects of reaching the play-offs.

“We have two games left and we just have to keep working hard.

“There was a lot of courage and toughness form us tonight

“They threw a lot at us and they have good players, so there’s a lot to take from the game.”
