Reports online suggests clubs in the Championship will meet tomorrow to discuss the venue for this year’s play-off final.
Debate has raged on social media since the topic was raised in Monday’s League Express, with observers split on the best resolution.
Many suggest that the match should be played at a neutral venue, though others note that it is too late to change the rules.
League Express reporter Aaron Bower notes that the RFL’s own operational rules state that the game will be played at the home of the highest-ranked club, “unless otherwise determined” by the governing body.
Here’s description from RFL in their Operational Rules about Champo play-offs and home advantage. Clubs expected to have a debate about this tomorrow at meeting as reported but understanding is RFL were waiting for Sky’s stance on it before committing.
