Reports in League Express suggest that Huddersfield Giants are closing in on the signing of one of Leeds Rhinos outside backs.

23 year old Ashton Golding is thought to be close to joining the Giants for the 2020 season after finding himself largely on the outside looking in at Headingley this year, making just one appearance in the Challenge Cup.

League Express’ Matt Shaw is reporting that the Jamaican international, who has spent most of the season on dual registration with Featherstone, is in “advanced discussions” with the Giants.

“With his opportunities at Leeds clearly limited, the Rhinos are open to the idea of letting their academy product leave the club, and the Giants are ready to pounce, Shaw writes.

“The Giants have prioritised the fullback position for their recruitment heading into next season after plans to move Darnell McIntosh into the position backfired.”

Meanwhile, Catalans Dragons ace Kenny Edwards’s move to the John Smith’s Stadium was confirmed earlier this week.
